TO/MTL Pride

As an 14 year old adolescent, I desperately wanted to attend the Toronto Pride parade. My parents told me that I was too young, and I was so frustrated that I couldn’t experience this amazing celebration of progress and acceptance in person that I scoured the newspapers for any and all pictures I could find. I still remember how much I cherished every clipped photos I could find of beaming people of all ages, sizes and colours, waving rainbow flags and covered in water and glitter.
Marcus’ photos understand the unhinged, glamourous, and celebratory nature of Pride both in Toronto and in Montreal. I treasure them in much the same way I did those newspaper clippings so many years ago. Pride is happiness. Pride is positivity. Pride is giving no fucks to people that don’t deserve them.
